3 Trends You Should Prepare for in 2018
Happy New Year, people! We’re about to jump right into 2018. It is never too late to know what will be the new trend of color, home décor and fashion and to catch up in the New Year.
1. In Color, Pantone color of the year 2018
We all know the pantone color of 2017 as Greenery. But when standing at the end of the year, you should know the color of the year for 2018. It is called Ultra Violet, pantone 18-3838, according to Pantone Color Institute. It is a purple hue, mysterious, royal, and a wedding color. Leatrice Eiseman, the executive director of Pantone, quoted from The NY Times and TIME, said Ultra Violet is “the most complex of all colors” for it is the combination of two opposing colors, "blue and red” to make the color purple, and it is also the color of “vast and limitless night sky,” reflecting the ideas of people’s living and mindsets in this time being, and the color shows some key words as “ambition, forward-thinking, and originality.” But, we think the color is more like courage, to face the unknown future, and wisdom to reach the boundary of our limitless creativity.
2. In Home Décor
The minimalism will still stay in 2018 in terms of home décor, stated by Maureen Baker from Mancini Duffy, an interior design firm, reported by Huffpost. Natural materials will be popular and widely applied next year. Rock for coaster, mud cloth for dec pillow, and flax textile for duvet cover are showing its originality of the textures themselves. Closed to minimalism, Wabi Sabi as an interior trend in Japanese means the beauty of imperfection, which is based on the ideas of nature element and authenticity. You may see items with marble patterns, metal finishes, velvet textures, which will also be “IT” elements of home decor in 2018, according to NY NOW’s big trend analysis.
